Hazrat Muslim bin AI Aqeel رضي الله عنه & Hani bin Urwa رضي الله عنه

Today, we delve into the history of Islam, remembering two illustrious figures, Hazrat Muslim bin AI Aqeel رضي الله عنه and Hani bin Urwa رضي الله عنه, sons of noble families, and their ultimate sacrifices for the cause of Islam.

Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel رضي الله عنه , the cousin of Imam Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه , is revered among the followers of Islam for his courage, piety, and unwavering faith. He was the chosen emissary sent by Imam Husayn رضي الله عنه to Kufa to secure their allegiance in the face of Yazid's unjust rule.

Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel رضي الله عنه arrived in Kufa and was initially perceived with enthusiasm. Hani bin Urwa , رضي الله عنه , a prominent nobleman and supporter of the Ahl al-Bayt, offered him shelter and protection. However, as the political landscape changed with the appointment of Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad as the new governor of Kufa, allegiances switched due to fear and coercion.

Hazrat Muslim’s position quickly became perilous. Hani bin Urwa رضي الله عنه having provided shelter to Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel رضي الله عنه , was arrested by Ibn Ziyad's forces. This event was a turning point, and the Kufans, once ardent supporters, started to withdraw their support out of fear of the new governor's wrath. Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel رضي الله عنه , now isolated, was eventually captured as well.

The tragic story does not end there. Both Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel رضي الله عنه and Hani bin Urwa رضي الله عنه were executed. Their deaths were great losses and distressing news for Imam Husayn رضي الله عنه, who was en route to Kufa, still under the impression that the city would be a safe haven.
